  • A dental crown is essentially a cap to cover your tooth (or teeth) in order to protect it from being damaged while also improving the appearance of your smile.

Crowns for teeth are usually recommended for patients who are missing natural tooth structure, have large restorations, root canal treated teeth, or for those who have weak teeth that need to be protected.

  • There are several different types of crowns for teeth. Depending on your needs, a dentist may recommend porcelain dental crowns, ceramics, gold alloy, porcelain bonded to metal, zirconia, or metal alloys.

Here at The Wobbly Tooth, we use 3D printing technology, which is a state-of-the-art method of reconstructing tooth restorations. 3D printing is a revolutionary resource to offer same-day restorations to our patients.

Our 3D-printed crowns are made from a nanoceramic hybrid class II 3D printing resin for the production of teeth. This features an optimal combination of translucency and opacity to mimic natural teeth. Industry-leading ceramic content provides superior aesthetics, giving our patients something to smile about.

  • Here’s a breakdown of the dental crowns procedure according to a same-day and multiple-day procedure:

Your dentist will take a digital scan of your mouth and design your crown through computer-assisted design (CAD), allowing for a completely customized dental crown with a precise fit.

Once your crown is designed, it is 3D printed on a custom dental printer, cleaned, cured, and fitted in your mouth to ensure a perfect fit.

Your dentist will then cement the crown into place — a quick and easy process that completes the crown procedure in a single visit.

The multi-day dental crown procedure is similar to the same-day procedure but with additional steps that require more time and a 3rd party dental lab to manufacture the restoration. On average, multi-day dental crown procedures can take up to 2 weeks to complete the procedure and requiring you to come back for a second appointment.

Dental bridges in Frederick, MD

A dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth with artificial teeth. The bridge is usually created by placing crowns on the natural teeth on either side of the gap (called abutment teeth) and cementing the prosthetic teeth in between, to keep them in place. A bridge can also be cemented to implants or bonded to the backs of adjacent natural teeth.

  • If you have one or more missing teeth, a dental bridge can fill the gap with one or more artificial (false) teeth. A bridge is typically made of crowns on either side of the missing tooth or teeth supporting the pontic (false tooth) and is cemented in place.

  • For individuals that don’t have enough bone material for implants, bridges are a great option to replace missing teeth.

  • Everything is custom fitted to maximize esthetics and function.

  • We’ll be able to complete your treatment for same day-restorations through our custom 3D printing technologies!
